- FAQS -

DOGS: We welcome dogs in our courtyard, bar and Adit room, (with the exception of the restaurant), please notify us at the time of booking so we can reserve a suitable table (and have the dog treats at the ready!)

CHILDREN: We welcome families with babies and children of all ages, we have a children’s menu available at lunch and dinner. Please notify us when making a reservation if you are bringing young children to ensure we reserve a table with space for a highchair / baby carrier etc. Please note that that on busy Friday & Saturday evenings it may not be a suitable environment for little ones.

GIFT VOUCHERS: Treat someone special (or that impossible person to buy for) to a Rising Sun gift voucher. Available for any amount over £10.00, simply pop in, email or give us a call between 11am-6pm to purchase over the phone, it can be with you in a couple of days.

ACCESS: If you would like a little info on access and layout please don't hesitate to give us a call or email. The Rising Sun has been here for over 200 years and as such we are not as accessible as we would like to be, but we do everything in our power to assist and welcome everyone who isn't completely mobile, in a wheelchair or with a pram / pushchair. (Our newly renovated courtyard has integrated ramps leading into our restaurant and can provide easier access, however, please note there is a step down to the bar area so please advise us before your visit so we can ensure we assign you the best table and be ready to welcome you.)

PARKING: We have 4 spaces infront of the pub but no car park unfortunately. However you can park on the single yellow lines on Mitchell Hill and Agar Rd (opposite the pub) after 6pm and all day on Sunday. There is also a car park at the bottom of the hill, please see more detail in the section below.

Please don't hesitate to give us a call on 01872 240003 if you can't find the answer to your question!

The bus station is located at Green Street next to Lemon Quay but there are a few other drop off points at River Street, Quay Street, Boscawen Street and Lemon Street.

From the bus station, turn right (you will see The Old Ale House at the end of the road). Upon reaching the end of this road turn left, cross the zebra crossing and take the right hand fork, going past The Aga Shop. When you reach an offset crossroads turn right (a few lovely antique shops along this road). At the crossroads (with traffic lights), go straight over and up the hill. PARKING

We have a few car parking spaces at the front of the pub, meaning at busy times parking can be tricky. There are 3 spaces (down Agar Rd opposite the pub) with a 2 hour limit and after 6pm and all day Sunday there is ample street parking in many roads including Mitchell Hill and Agar Road opposite (do not turn into either of the two lanes on each side of the pub as these are access only and very narrow). There is also a shoppers car park at the bottom of Mitchell Hill (coming down the hill, turn right at the traffic lights, in 500yrds, left at the next traffic lights, then immediately left into the car park.

BY RAIL

Truro's railway station is just a few minutes walk from the city centre.
Truro is on the main line between Penzance and London Paddington, with direct connections to Plymouth, Edinburgh and the Midlands. Along this mainline, you can catch one of only two sleeper services in the UK.
Traveling east from Truro, look out for the magnificent 28 metre (92 ft) high stone viaduct offering expansive views over the city, cathedral, and Truro River in the distance. The structure replaced Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s wooden Carvedras Viaduct in 1904.
Connecting to the main line at Truro station is the Maritime Line, a branch line which travels south to Falmouth, with stops at Perranwell, Penryn, Falmouth Town for the National Maritime Museum and Falmouth Docks.
